VACA MARIPOSA

Commissioned in 2016 and completed in 2017, Vaca Mariposa is a 6 ft. wide by 12 ft. high structure made of steel, ceramic, concrete, and grass. The title of the sculpture as well as its shape reference a song by Simon Diaz, a celebrated singer and composer of Venezuelan folk music. I chose a symbolic motif of Venezuelan culture because the sculpture was to be installed permanently in the corner of NW 36th St and NW 87th Ave, City of Doral, which has the highest percentage of Venezuelan residents in the U.S.

This project was commissioned and sponsored by CVS Pharmacy and Boos Development Group, Inc., and fabricated by Art & Sculpture Unlimited, Inc., in Miami, FL.
